Patients with post operative breast cancer received 100 mg of AC-17 intraveneously every other day during radiotherapy. The control group was chosen rrom patients not treated by radiation. Moist radiodermatitis occurred in 18 to 60% of control patients; only 12.5% of the patients injected with AC-17 showed slight skin changes. In the AC-17 injected group, the grade of leukopenia was only small, but the control group showed definite leukopenia. The incidence of pulmonary injury was about the same in the two groups; however, the area size of pulmonary injury was smaller in the AC-17 injected group than in the controls. In conclusion, AC-17 seems to be effective treatment for radiation injury. (Abstr. Japan Med., 2: No. 5, May 1962).
