OSTI ID:4816797
A process is outlined for crosslinking polyvinyl chloride by irradiation without degradation or change in color. The process comprises swelling the polyvinyl chloride by one of the solvents tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, and tetrahydronaphthalene and subjecting the swollen polymer to electrons or neutrons in the presence of air. Thus, a polyvinyl chloride is obtained which has kept its normal appearance and in addition has improved physico-chemical properties. (D.L.C.)
