Equipment which provides a means of pulsing the Van de Graaff electron beam was installed. In other work, reports were issued during the period on ESR studies of transient organic radicals, mass spectrometric observations of electron and proton transfer reactions between positive ions and neutral molecules, second order splittings in the ESR spectra of organic radicals, method for measuring radioinduced radical yields, radiolysis of benzene, and photolysis and radiolysis of iodoethane. Other investigations in progress include measurement of radical lifetimes, radiolysis of ethylene, iodine reactions, radiolysis of alkyl halides, and radiolysis of isopropanol. (J.R.D.)
