Emphasis during the period was placed on sintering studies of PuO/sub 2/ and on high density feed material production for eventual swaging and vibratory compaction studies. Spheroidization by plasma torch to increase density was also studied. In PuO/sub 2/ preparation studies, the highest densities were obtained by air sintering. Preparation of PaO/sub 2/ powders by ultrasonic attrition is being studied for a pretreatment step. Data on densification of granular U are tabulated along with data on impurities. (J.R.D.)
