SEPARATION OF RARE EARTHS BY COLUMN CHROMATOGRAPHY WITH CELLULOSE POWDER TREATED WITH DI(2-ETHYLHEXYL) ORTHOPHOSPHORIC ACID. PART I

Journal Article · · Energia nucleare (Milan)
OSTI ID:4816456
The possibility of separating mg amounts of rare earths from each other, by the use of cellulose powder treated with the cationic exchanger di(2- ethylhexyl)orthophosphoric acid (HDEHP) was demonstrated. The exchange capacity of the cellulose was determined as a function of the concentration of the HDEHP solution. By means of the separation of Eu-Tb the average separatlon factor for two adjacent lanthanides was determined. The separations Eu-Y-Yb, Sr-Ce-Eu-Y-Yb, and Cs-Sr-Ce-Tb-Yb are reported as examples.
