HNPF WASH CELL DEVELOPMENT

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4815660
A Hallam fuel element wash cycle has been established. This cycle, determined after forty washings of the Hallam prototype (l9-rod U-10% Mo) fuel element assembly, consists of introducing saturated steam (212 deg F) into the preheated (200 deg F) wash cell at a rate of 100 lb/hr for a period of fifteen minutes. At the conclusion of the steaming operation, the wash cell is first flushed with nitrogen to remove the bulk of the water vapor and then vacuum dried. (auth)
