STUDIES ON URANIUM-PLUTONIUM-MOLYBDENUM ALLOYS (in French)

Journal Article · · J. Nuclear MAterials
In connection with the manufacture of fuel elements for fast reactors, studies were made of the thermal behavior of ternary U- Pu-Mo alloys containing 20% Pu and 8, 10, or 12% Mo, and also of one containing 60% U, 30% Pu, and 10% Mo. Since there is a phase transformation near 525 deg C, dimensional changes of alloy samples were measured during the breakdown of the high temperature phases at 350, 400, 450, and 500 deg C. It was found that as-cast alloys behaved similarly to alloys which were quenched. In all cases the transformations took place slowly and dilatometric changes were small. (auth)
