IRRADIATION TESTS OF SELECTED TRANSDUCERS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4814299
A number of instrumentation transducers were irradiated for the purpose of finding commercially available transducers that can be used in a radiation environment. The tests were made at ambient temperature and humidity conditions. The pickups were "exerclsed" during irradiation to simulate operating conditions. The pickups tested included differential transformers; fluid-damped and magnetic- damped velocity pickups; strain gages; piezoelectric accelerometers; bulb resistance thermometers; and inductive, strain-gage, and potentiometer pressure pickups. Potentiometer pressure pickups, magnetic-damped velocity pickups, and piezoelectric accelerometers operated satisfactorily in the radiation environment. (auth)
