RETAINING BELT LINK FOR THE MODERATOR STRUCTURE PILE OF A NUCLEAR REACTOR
A retainnnng belt link comprises a series of end plates, a correspondnnng number of coaxial tubes for receiving compressive loads, and a plurality of tie rods designed to support tensile loads and arranged in a number of sets. These coaxial tubes and tie rod sets are mounted between the end plates in such a way that the latter transmits the load from the tubes to the rods and vice versa. To this end, the tubes and rod sets are mounted alternately and act in series. Preferably, the link comprises only two sets of tie rods and tube; in this case, the end plates connect on the one hand each set of tie rods to an end of the said tube and on the other hand to one of a pair of attaching members for interconnecting adjacent links. The tensile load applied to the tie rods nns thus transmitted by the end plates to the tube in the form of a compressive stress. (NPO)
