AN IMMUNOGENETIC STUDY OF THE MECHANISMS OF PROTECTION AGAINST RADIATION DEATH BY TREATMENT WITH HEMOPOIETIC TISSUES. Progress Report for 1961

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4813235
The role of individual histocompatibility loci in the protection against radiation death by means of bone marrow grafting was studied. The differences already observed between the "'strong'' H-2 and the "weak" H-1 and H-3 loci were confirmed. Other findings indicated that genedetermined anti-genicity may vary according to the genetic background into which any particular gene is placed. Work on transplantation antigens confirmed Z as a new H-locus independent of H-1, H-2, and H-3. Studies on the properties of H-antigens were extended. (M.C.G.)
