RADIOPROTECTIVE EFFICACY OF CYSTEAMINE WITH THE MITOTIC INDEX OF RAT BONE MARROW CELLS AS REFERENCE SYSTEM

Journal Article · · Acta Radiologica (Sweden) Divided into Acta Radiol.: Ther., Phys., Biol. and Acta Radiol., Diagn.

The protective efficacy of cysteamine (l50 mg/kg bodyweight) was tested on rat bone marrow cells in vivo with the mitotic index as the biologic reference system during a period from 5 min to 30 days after 800 r irradiation. Maximum stable protective efficacy (35 to 92% of that of the normal controls) was observed between the 15th and 30th days. (auth)
