An attempt is made to eliminate the rapid regression of the image of protons near the minimum-ionization plateau, by cooling the emulsion to -- l96 f C in order to prevent the evolution of the latent corpuscular image. By developing immediately after exposure using amidol at 24 f C, a grain density of 46 grains/l00 OMEGA is obtained, which is nearly twice that obtained by classical development techniques. The distribution of the gap lengths is quite regular. (T.F.H.)
