IMPROVEMENTS IN HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEMS FOR NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4812487
A gas-cooled reactor is designed in which the moderator is heavy water kept at a low temperature. The reactor has fuel rods located in tubular channels in a tank of moderator, and the tubular channels and headers are kept at a moderate temperature by means of internal heat insulation and external cooling means. Thus, the geometry of the reactor does not change and bellows are eliminated in tubular parts subjected to high pressure. (D.L.C.)
