NEUTRONS IN METEORITES (in German)

Journal Article · · Helvetica Physica Acta (Switzerland)
OSTI ID:4812483

In calculating the cosmic radiation intensity along the path of a meteorite, it has been assumed that high energy spallation processes play the essential role. For more accurate discussions, however, lower energy processes, principally slow neutron capture, must be considered. The neutron fluxes encountered by a spherical meteorite of chondrite composition were calculated. The Co/sup 60/, Cl/sup 36/, and Ar/sup 36/ induced in chondrites of 40 and 100 cm radius were calculated as examples. (J.S.R.)
