INTERACTION OF NORMAL HUMAN SERUM WITH $sup 131$I INSULIN

The addition of I/sup 131/-labeled insulin to diabetic serum in vitro was used to investigate the fate of insulin in the diabetic subject. Binding of the labelled insulin to gamma - or inter beta gamma -globulins was found in diabetic serum but not in normal serum. Preliminary resuIts are reported from tracer experiments on the interaction of insulin with serum factors, either pre- existing or liberated or activated on incubation at 35 deg . (C.H.)
