Measurement of Stopping-Power Ratio for Cavity Ionization Chambers

Journal Article · · Nature (London)
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1038/192545b0· OSTI ID:4811585

An absolute measurement of the stopping-power ratio is made by varying the pressure of different gases introduced into a single ionization chamber. The method is shown graphically by showing the variation in the ionization/g of gas with the gas pressure for hydrogen, air, and argon tn a graphite ionization chamber irradiated by 1.25-Mev photons (Co60 gamma rays).
