RECOIL SCINTILLATION SPECTROMETER WITH TWO CRYSTALS (in Rumanian)
In order to study the neutron spectrum given by nuclear interactions, a two-crystal spectrometer was constructed using the neutron recoil in the analyzer crystal in coincidence with the same neutrons scattered elastically and converging on the detector crystal. The FEU-29 photomultiplier was used as analyzer detector and FEU-33 as neutron detector. The crystals were stilbene crystals (30 x 10 mm). The time resolution of the fast coincidence of the apparatus is controllable between 20 and 40 nsec, with an efficiency almost constant at l00%. The spectrometer was tested with a Po- alpha -Be source and the operation is shown schematically. The efficiency of the apparatus, calculated for the energy E/sub o/ = 4 Mev, is 0.8 x 10/sup -4/ and its energy resolution is 10%. (tr-auth)
