THERMAL AND TENSIMETRIC STUDIES OF ZrCl$sub 4$-AlCl$sub 3$-KCl AND ZrCl$sub 4$-FeCl$sub 3$-KCl SYSTEMS (in Russian)

Chemical reactions of ZrCl/sub 4/, AlCl/sub 3/, and KCl during crystallization were studied, and the liquids surface for ZrCl/sub 4/-AlCl/sub 3/- KCl was constructed. The boundaries for the primary crystallizations of KCl, K/ sub 2/ZrCl/sub 6/, ZrCl /sub 4/, KAlCl/sub 4/, AlCl/sub 3/, KFeCl/sub 4/, and FeCl/sub 3/ are determined. Tensimetric studies of ZrCl/sub 4/-AlCl/sub 3/-KCl and ZrCl/sub 4/FeCl/sub 3/-KCl show that KCl and NaCl can be used for separating ZrCl/sub 4/ from AlCl/sub 3/ and the basic mass of iron chlorides. The Fe/sub 2/ Cl/sub 6/ vapor pressure is very slightly dependent on temperature and is or the magnitude 1.8 to 3.3 mm mercury. (R.V.J.)
