THERMAL AND TENSIOMETRIC STUDIES OF NbCl$sub 5$-AlCl$sub 3$-KCl KNbCl$sub 6$-KTaCl$sub 6$-KAlCl$sub 4$, AND NbCl$sub 5$-KTaCl$sub 6$-KAlCl$sub 4$ (in Russian)
Chemical reactions of Al, K, Nb and Ta during their crystallization in melts were studied. Constitution diagrams constructed for KAlCl/sub 4/-- KTaCl/ sub 6/, KAlCl/sub 4/-- KNbCl/sub 6/ exhibited simple eutectic-type diagrams, the KTaCl/sub 6/-KNbCl/sub 6/ exhibited a continuous series of solid solutions, and KTaCl/sub 6/-- NbCl/sub 5/ and KAlCl/sub 4/-- NbCl/sub 5/ systems exhibited stratification regions in the initial NbCl/sub 5/ crystallization field. Diagrams were also constructed for the liquidus surfaces of quasi-ternary and ternary systems: NbCl/sub 5/-AlCl/sub 3/- KCl, KNbCl/sub 6/-- KTaCl/sub 6/-- KAlCl/sub 4/, and NbCl/sub 5/-KTaCl/sub 6/-KAlCl/sub 4/ and crystallization boundaries were determined. Tensiometric studies were made of the following systems: NbCl/sub 5/-- AlCl/sub 3/-- KCl, NbCl/sub 5/-- TaCl/sub 5/-- KCl, and NbCl/sub 5 /-- TaCl/sub 5/-AlCl/sub 3/-- NaCl. (R.V.J.)
