On meson emission in analogy with cerenkov radiation

An analogy with electromagnetic Cherenkov radiation was used for the description of multiple meson production. It is shown that some properties of the Cherenkov radiation applied to multiple meson production appear to be specifrc for the electromagnet field only and should not be used in the meson theory without certain modifications, The form of the energy spectrum and of the angular distribution is derived. The influence of the space dependence of the refractive index on the energy spectrum is discussed.
