Beef stew irradiated at a level of 5.58 megarad and 2.79 megarad was fed to dogs as 35% of the diet for a period of two years. Non-irradiated beef stew of similar origin was fed to control animals. A breeding experiment was carried out simultaneously, and hematological studies and urine analyses were conducted on all animals. After two years feeding, all dogs were sacrificed and complete histopathological studies performed on the tissues. No indications were found of any toxic effects due to the feeding of irradiated beef stew. (C.H.)
