Perineal irradiation by pendular rotational therapy with speed variation opens new ways for the treatnnent of pelvic tumors. However, it offers some technical, sometimes unsurmountable, difficulties with the rotational beam 55 cm we used. There is an argument in favor of the choice of a 70 cm beam in rotational Co therapy. Moreover, if it is possible to spare the perineal skin and the vulvar mucous membranne, this method determines high parasite doses to the scrotum and testicles in man. In these cases it may be combined with a conventional irradiation method. Contiol dosimetry shows that it represents a non-neglectable complementary irradiation securing a better local dose distribution in the pelvis. (auth)
