Descriptions sre given of a Cherenkov detector with a recording area of ~15 mi and a mean particle track in water of ~3 m. The results of tests on the detector are analyzed. The detector was used with a hodoscope system and Wilson chamber for studying wide atmospheric showers. (R.V.J.)
