STOP VALVE CONTROLLED BY A PISTON IN PARTICULAR FOR HIGH PRESSURE CIRCUITS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4805414
A stop valve comprises a nearly cylindrical valve casing with connection collars on the two extremities. The upstream side of the casing is provided inside with two successive seatings against each of which an annular gasket can be pressed by a disc-shaped valve body that is axially displaceable. The gasket positioned on the upstream side has a greater diameter than the other gasket and is constituted by an elastic torus; the annular space formed in the closed position between the two valve seatings may be evacuated. The axial displacement of the valve body is effected by a piston that slides in a cylinder provided coaxially inside the valve casing and is connected with the valve body by an axial bar. The downstream side of this cylinder is closed and may be put into communication with a pressure fluid for actuating the valve, while the upstream side is perforated, so that it communicates with the remaining hollow space in the valve casing. The said connecting bar is guided in a collar supported by several radial members connecting the collar with the valve casing. Preferably, some of these members are hollow and enclose means for holding the valve in the closed position or for position indication. (NPO)
