EFFECTS OF VERTICAL GRAVITY OSCILLATIONS ON PERFORMANCE OF TEH T7 NATURAL'CIRCULATION BOILING WATER REACTOR

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4805099
Results are presented from an analog computer study of the transient behavior of a natural-circulation boilingwater reactor propulsion system in the T7 tanker under conditions of ship's motion. The studies utilized an analog model which is improved over that used in work reported earlier (GEAP 3294). The ship's motion was simulated as a sinusoidal variation in vertical acceleration. The response of the reactor model was determined including flow, void content, reactivity, power, fuel temperature, and reactor steam pressure. The frequency and amplitude of the sinusoidal acceleration were varied. Effects of different simulation techniques on the reactor model response were determined. (auth)
