STUDY OF THE GIANT RESONANCE IN Ca$sup 40$ BY INELASTIC SCATTERING OF ELECTRONS (in French)

The giant resonance in Ca/sup 40/ is studied by inelastic electron scattering. Structure in the resonance is observed, in agreement with theoretical predictions. The cross section for photonuclear absorption, integrated over the region of the giant resonance, is determined using the method of vi rtual quanta. (auth)
