The development and use of atomic energy for constructive purposes in Italy is discussed with respect to the progress being made and the programs being actively pursued. The topics discussed and outlined include: economic aspects, power reactor development, industry's contribution, legal aspects, reactor safety supervision, the Italian Nuclear Forum, liability and insurance, research programs, activities of organizations and companies, Italy's contribution to nuclear technology, and training of nuclear engineers. Special interest is also given to the design aspects of the Garigliano nuclear power station, design improvements of the SELNI station, and construction work of Latina station. (N.W.R.)
