DEVICE FOR CHARGING ELEMENTS INTO A NUCLEAR REACTOR, THESE ELEMENTS BEING PROVIDED WITH A CABLE CONNECTION TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4804340
A device is described for suspending a series of fuel elements in the vertical channel of a nuclear reactor and for connecting measuring heads (e.g., thermocouples mounted in the fuel elements) via electric cables with the outside of the reactor. For this purpose, a lifting device is situated in the head of the charging tube system mounted in the charging hole; this device comprises a tubular casing enclosing a winch driven by an electric motor, this winch being attached to and controlling the vertical movement of the movable part of two identical pulley block systems parallelly mounted below the winch on common aces; a counterweight is attached to the lower part. A grab that can couple with a series of fuel elements is suspended below the counterweight by two cables; each cable has a conducting core and passes over one of the pulley block systems and is attached at its other end in the upper part of the casing. The cores emerging at the upper ends of the cables are connected in any suitable manner with the outside of the reactor; at the lower ends the cores pass to the measuring heads of the fuel elements.
