DECAY OF Cd$sup 119$ AND In$sup 119$ ISOMERS

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The isomers 9.5-min Cd/sup 119/ and 2.7-min Cd/sup 119m/ are formed in the fission of natural uranium induced by 14-Mev deuterons and fast neutrons, with the latter reaction favoring the production of the low-spin 9.5-min isomer. The decay of l8-min In/sup 119m/, the daughter of 9.5-min Cd/sup 119/,is characterized by beta rays with a maximum energy of 2.7 Mev and gamma rays of 0.024, 0.30, and 0.9l Mev. Some (~5%) isomeric transition is observed. The decay of 2.0-min In/sup 119/ is characterized by 1.6-Mev beta rays and 0.82-Mev gamma rays. (auth)
