The decay of Te/sup 119/ isomers and relative yields of the reaction were studied. The Te/sup 119/ isomers were prepared together with other tellurium isotopes by bombarding KI plates with 250-Mev protons. The tellurium and iodine were separated 15 min following the irradiation. Two radiochemically pure preparations of Te(I) and T(II) formed. Only short-life Te/sup 119/ (12 plus or minus 1 hr) was present in the preparation of Te(II). The beta and gamma spectra of Te(I) and Te(II) were found, and the short-life isomer of Te/ sup 119/ with 660-kev gamma line intensity and weak positron emission of approximately 550 kev was observed. The ratios gamma / beta /sup +/>5, beta / sup +//e/sup -/ approx equal 5. The half life period of Te/sup 119/ was 14 plus or minus 2 hr, the gamma lines (most noticeable E/sub i= 150 and 1200 kev) corresponding to a half life of 5 days were observed in Te(I) while for Te(II) it is T = 12 plus or minus 1 hr. A decay sheme is given for A = 119. The developed data permitted simple determination of the relative production cross sections of I/sup 119/, Te/sup 119/, and Te/sup 11/< s9>s/sup */ by the accumulation of Sb/sup 119/ in Te(I) and Te(II) and by the gamma (660)kev intensity in the preparaticn. The ratio of relative cross sections is sigma / sub Te/ 119 sigma /sub I/119: sigma /sub Te/119*= 1: 1.5:3. The relative cross sections determined by various methods are in good agreement within the order of accuracy of plus or minus 10%. (R.V.J.)
