MEASUREMENTS OF CAESIUM-137 IN HUMAN BEINGS DURING 1958-61
Cesium-137 measurements made in 1958 to 1961 are reported for people who had worked in the radium luminizing industry, the staff of the Radiological Protection Service, and patients from mental hospitals. Most of the people monitored lived in or around London. The results show that the mean annual dose due to cesium-137 in the body was less than 2 mrem/year and that the mean cesium- 137 content in the body remained fairly constant in 1958 to 1961 and then began to decrease in the early pant of 1961. It is noted that slightly higher cesium- 137 contents were observed for young people over older people and for males over females of similar average age. (D.L.C.)
