A search for the reaction d + d yields He/sup 4/ + pi /sup 0/ was conducted to test the validity of isotopic spin (I-spin) conservation. A result based on data analysis sets an upper limit for the differential cross section of this reaction, in the center-ofmass system, of (d sigma )/(d OMEGA ) (d + d yields He/sup 4/ + pi /sup 0/) < 1.5 x 10/sup cm/sup 2//sr. It is concluded that I-spin is at least 99.6 conserved. An upper limit for the reaction d + d yields He/sup 4/ + gamma was also obtained. The upper limit obtained for this reaction is (d sigma /sup cm/)/(d OMEGA ) (d + d yields He/sup 4/ + gamma ) < 3.5 x 10/sup -34/ cm/sup 2// sr. (J.R.D.)
