MEASUREMENT OF TOTAL CROSS SECTIONS OF K$sup -$ MESONS IN HYDROGEN AND DEUTERIUM IN THE MOMENTUM REGION 630 TO 1100 Mev/c

Total cross sections of K/sup -/ mesons in hydrogen and deuterium were measured over the momentum range 630 to 1100 Mev/c. The k/sup -/-n total cross sections were obtained from deuterium and hydrogen data. A well-defined resonance appeared in the K/sup -/-p total cross section at about 1000 Mev/c. Two high-resolution velocity-selecting Cherenkov counters were used to select K/ sup -/ mesons. The momentum resolution was 1 to 2%, and the momentum intervals chosen were very closely spaced. (auth)
