THE SPECTRA OF INTERNAL CONVERSION ELECTRONS, AND OF POSITRONS EMITTED DURING THE DECAY OF Re$sup 18$$sup 4$ (in Russian)
A tungsten target was bombarded with 13.6-Mev deuterons. After dissolution of the target, a rhenium fraction was isolated and purified by passing a 3N H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solution through a column of a fluorinated polymeric resin (fluororesin-4) impregnated with cyclohexanol. The column was rinsed with 1N H/sub 2/S0/sub 4/ and 1N HCl, and the Re was eluted with water. The Re activity was mounted on an aluminum foil 5 mu thick. The conversion electrons and beta particles were bent by a magnetic field and sent through two GeigerMueller counters in series which were connected for coincidence counting. Internal conversion coefficients are presented with the results normalized for an alpha /sub K/ = 0.0045 for the 904-kev gamma transition. The 904, 895, 793, and 111kev transitions are of the E2 type. The half life of Re/sup 184/ was 38 days from the decrease in intensity of the K peaks. The 382, 1098, 1152, and 1162 kev transitions correspond to a long-lived isomeric state of Re/sup 184/ having a half life of 160 to 180 days. (TTT)
