Radiochemical Behavior of Particulate Corrosion Products in the SM-1 during Core I

An analysis of the behavior of particulate corrosion products (crud) during Core 1 life of the SM-1 with reference to the long-lived gamma emitters, Co60, Co56, Fe59, Cr51, and Mn54 is presented. The effects of power level, operating history, crud concentration, and oxygen concentration in the coolant are resolved. The resulting data provide a firm basis for predicting and comparing activity build-up of future reactors.
