Measurements are made on the effective cross sections for capture of one ( sigma /sub 21/) or two ( sigma /sub 20/) electrons by doublycharged helium ions in single collisions in hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, argon, and krypton. The measurements are carried out for He/sup 2+/ ion energies at 300 to 1500 kev. (auth)
