STUDY OF THE CADMIUM ISOTOPES (III). BETA- AND GAMMA-RAY SPECTROSCOPY OF In$sup 10$$sup 8$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
BS>The decays of 58 min and 40 min In/sup 108/ have been studied in order to investigate the excited states of Cd/sup 108/. Spectra of beta rays, internal conversion electrons, and gamma rays were obtained using a sector-type beta-ray spectrometer and scintillation spectrometers. Many new gamma rays were found and the maximum energies of the beta rays were determined to be 3.50 plus or minus 0.05 Mev for the 40 min isomer and 1.29 plus or minus 0.08 Mev for the 58 min isomer. The decay scheme of In/sup 108/ was established with the aid of about 20 gamma rays. The 40 min 2 + state of In/sup 108/ was determined to be about 40 kev higher than the 58 min high spin state, and the 2+ second excited state of 1.475 Mev in Cd/sup 108/ was found. The ratios of the reduced transition probabilities of the gamma rays and the log ft values were discussed. (auth)
