A review is given on terminology, instrumentation, analytical characteristics, elements determined, and materials analyzed in absorption flame photometry, along with atomic absorption spectroscopy without flames. A table of detection limits for absorption and emission flame photometry is given for 77 elements. 123 references are given to U. S. and foreign reports, books, patents, and journals published from late 1958 to late 1961. (P.C.H.)
