A process is given for the rapid photopolynaerization of a compound containtng the group CH/sub 2/ = C . The method comprises exposing the compound to radiation of wavelength l0/sup -1/ to l0/sup -10/ cm in the presence of a catalytic mixture of an aromatic diazonium compound and a sensitizing dye. A cross-linking agent may be added to the compound. Exaraples are given of the process in which acrylamide is photopolymerized under a variety of conditions. (D.L.C.)
