PHOTOPOLYMERIZATION OF VINYL MONOMERS BY MEANS OF A MIXTURE OF SILVER COMPOUNDS AS CATALYSTS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4796541

The photopolymerization of vinyl compounds with a silver compound catalyst can be greatly increased if the catalyst is a mixture of an insoluble silver halide and a silver salt with a water solubility greater than that of the halide. The catalytic activity of the mixture may also be promoted by means of small amounts of an amphoteric metal oxide and an optical sensitizing dye. A crosslinking agent with at least two terminal vinyl groups may be used to increase the molecular weight of the vinyl polymers. (D.L.C.)
