It has been found that x-irradiated rats treated with highly polymerized nucleic acids survive lethal doses. Observations are reported on the structure alterations in certain regions of the fundus ventriculi, small and large intestines, and liver for lethally irradiated rats as compared with rats lethally irradiated but treated with desoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Histological examinations of the organs were carried out on rats killed 4 and 9 days after x irradiation. In all cases, the structure was less altered for the DNA-treated rats. (D.L.C.)
