Experiments with 1113 mice, 115 gui-nea pigs 44 cats, and 17 dogs irradiated with 180to 200, 450, 400, and 400 r, respectively, showed that at the acute stages the excitation of adrenergic receptors in relation to catecholamine is increased and the activity of monoaminoxidase inhibitors decreases. The suprarenal adrenaline level also decreases. The response of cholinergic receptors to parasympathicotonic agents is reduced, especially in certain organs. Simuitaneously the receptor sensitivity to blocking agents (atropine) increases followed by reduced cholinesterase activity. (R.V.J.)
