REACTION OF MOUSE INTESTINE TO SYMPATHETIC DRUGS DURING ACUTE RADIATION SICKNESS (in German)

Journal Article · · Strahlentherapie (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4694125
The reaction of the intestine to parasympathicotonic, parasympathicolytic, sympathicotonic, and ganglioplegic substances was investigated in irradiated mice. A decrease of the motility reaction of the intestine to acetylcholine, prostigmine, iproniazid, nicotine, and hexamethonium was rated. No changes of the reactivity to pilocarpin, but increased sensitivity to atropine, adrenaline, and sympatole was observed. The results indicate decrease in sensitivity of the cholinergic and an increase in sensitivity of the adrenergic receptors of the intestine at the peak of acute radiation sickness in mice. (auth)
