A DISPERSION RELATIONSHIP IN THE THEORY OF NON-LINEAR LONGITUDINAL OSCILLATIONS OF A RELATIVISTIC PLASMA (in French)

A coherent theory of nonlinear oscillations of a completely ionized plasma having a state of rarefaction suf ficiently high to neglect shock effects was developed using the nonrelativistic Boltzmann equation. This theory was extended to the case of relativistic plasma by using the relativistic Boltzmann equation. A nonlinear dispersion relation was derived for the electric charge waves of a plasma, assuming only two components. It was also assumed that all oscillating variables in the problem depend only on the linear combination x -- Vt, V being the constant propagation velocity of the charge wave. (J.S.R.)
