DOSE SENSITIVITY OF GEIGER MULLER COUNTERS FOR X-RAYS AND GAMMA RAYS PART II (in German)

The dose sensitivity of Geiger-Muller counters for quantum radiation in relation to quantum energy in the range from 10 kev to 3 Mev was calculated for various wall materials, wall thicknesses, filling gases, and filling pressures. For counters with excess air-equivalent gas fillings and sufficiently high filling pressures, the dose sensitivity, as a function of quantum energy, has a maximum at lower energy levels and a minimum at higher energy levels. Practical measures are given for reducing the energy dependence of dose sensitivity. (auth)
