ROLLING IMPROVED BERYLLIUM SHEET. PHASE II-REPORT, ISOTROPIC DUCTILITY. Technical Report 279-234, March 26, 1962 to May 25, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4794766
The effect of heat treating at 1750, 1920, and 2020 deg F for intervals of 6, 60, and 600 min, on the tensile properties and third dimension plastic strnin of cross-rolled Be sheet was investigated. Differences in the effects of the heat treatments were shown to be statistically significant with characteristic patterns appearing for the various properties. The average effect of these treatments was to reduce the ultimate strength from 78,400 to 58,400 psi, the yield strength from 60,700 to 32,700 psi and the elongation from 15.5 to 8.1%. The response of the third dimension plastic strain to these same treatments was to increase the average value from 0.58 to 0.77%. (auth)
