PARTICLE PRODUCTION AT 45 AND 60 IN THE CERN PS

Results are presented of particle production at 45 and 80 deg from the internali beryllium target of the CERN proton synchrotron. The experimentalal setup is described along with the propenties of the measuring equipment. The results for pion and proton production are qualitatively consistent with measurements by Fitch et al., though the absolute values are higher by a factor of about two, The K/sup +//K/sup -/ intensities between 0.8 and 1.8 Bev/c stays approximately constant at 6 plus or minus 1 at both production angles. The fluxes of pions, K/sup +/, and protons are graphically presented along with the ratios of p to pi - intensity. (N.W.R.)
