The spectra of photons from the CERN 25 Bev proton synchrotron using aluminum and beryllium internal targets are measured at the laboratory angles of 3.2 and 15.9 deg by means of a lead glass total absorption Cherenkov counter. While at 3.2 deg the intensity is slightly higher than that predicted by the statistical model with the assumption of isotropy in the c.m. system, at 15.9 deg it is about an order of magnitude below this prediction. This is interpreted as an indication of anisotropy in c.m. system. The 3.2 deg beam, at 64 m from the target, has an intensity of about 13,600 photons above 1 Bev per cm/sup 2/ when 10/sup 11/ protons impinge on a beryllium target. The number of neutrons is found to be about a factor of 2 below the number of gamma -rays of energy larger than 2 Bev. Attenuation measurements of gamma -rays and neutrons are performed in carbon, CH/sub 2/, and lead. (auth)
