BETA-GAMMA DIRECTIONAL CORRELATION MEASUREMENT IN As$sup 7$$sup 6$

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4792499
The BETA - gamma directional correlation of the first forbidden nonunique 2/sup -/ yields 2/sup +/ BETA transition of As/sup 76/ was measured at ten B energies ranging from 1.33 to 2.18 Mev. The angular correlation coefficient A/sub 2/(W) varied from 0.076 plus or minus 0.005 to 0.106 plus or minus 0.005 in this energy range. The modified B/sub ij/ approximation was used to investigate the structure of the first excited state in Se/sup 76/. A configuration of either (f/sub 5/2) (g/sub 9/2)/sup 2/ or (f/sub 5/2/)/sup 2/(g/ sub 9/2/)/sup nu was in a agreement with the experimental data. The values - 2.2 < Y < -2.8 and -3.2 < V < 4.2 for the nuclear matrix element parameters were consistent with an analysis of the experiment in the xi approximation and the modified B/sub ij/. approximation.
