CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF THE SEGREGATION OF IMPURITIES IN BERYLLIUM OF COMMERCIAL PURITY (in French)

Journal Article · · Compt. rend.
OSTI ID:4790612

It is shown, using commercial beryllium, that aluminum, a slightly soluble impurity, dispersed in the form of a liquid phase beginning at 650 deg C plays an important role in the segregation of other impurities. These are eliminated from the beryllium matrix by selective dissolution in the liquid phase during thermal treatments made between 650 and 800 deg C. (tr-auth)
